My last post was August 1st and now it's mid jan?? Where did the time go?
oh well I doubt this post is getting me back in the blogging spirit, but I just wanted to put this here so I don't foget about it.
I drew this atc for Lori in the Deviant Scrap round robin. Her theme was storybook characters and instead of scrapping it, I thought I would have a go at drawing. Now a week later I'm not so sure that was a good idea, but it's done and I'm not going back now. The colouring and the background were done with watercolours in Art Rage. I'ev never done anything like the background before which I'm guessing is pretty obvious. But it was fun and I'm looking forward to learning more and working out this watercolour thing which looks really cool when done well!

It's been a while but I was finally motivated to draw again tonight. But I decided to play around in Art Rage instead of real paper.
I bought Art Rage just after starting Suzi Blu's class so I haven't had very much time to get to know it, so I was excited to try drawing digitally and seeing what I could do!
And so my first experiment...
Don't get me wrong I have opened Art Rage a few times and scribbled a few faces, but I had no idea what settings to use or how to blend colours or anything. Tonight I had a quick look in the help section before starting and I was much happier with what I accomplished.
But OMG my arm hurts. I had my pen set on the highest sensitivity so I was really pushing hard sometimes to get pressure on the page. I think I need to adjust that next time!

Please let me know what you think! I went for a little more realism this time and I know it's far from perfect but I like her!

Drawing with Suzi Blu!

I have been eyeing off Suzi Blu's 'Petite Dolls' class for ages now
and last week I finally took the plunge!!And I'm loving it! I'm only up to lesson 2...but I am so happy with what I've made so far.I had no idea I could draw so well!
I am now hoping to get some soft coloured pencils soon so I can blend better. My Derwent Artist's are just too hard to blend the colours nicely. So I'm trying to decide between the Prismacolors (which Suzi recommends but are hard to get here) or the new Derwent Coloursofts. If anybody has any advice for me it would be appreciated!

A New Year

This time last year I had been looking back through my gallery from 2009 and there were so many pages that meant absolutely nothing to me. They were just quick CT pages that I'd stuck a photo on but there was no memory attached. And so my scrapping resolution for 2010 was to make all of my pages meaningful.

Looking back now I am so happy with my attempt! I didn't completely succeed...there are pages in there that needed to be made quickly or with kits that I didn't really connect with, but overall I think I did really well!

This year, things are changing. I no longer feel the need to be on CTs and so I have quit all of them but ViVa Artistry and Holliewood Studios. I am also freelancing for Donna Duncombe still and I owe Clementine a few pages! I am hoping that this will free me up to be able to create more pages just for me. It will be nice to go back to starting with a photo or story, rather than finding something to fit the kit.
I honestly don't know how I'll go. Can I scrap without CT kits anymore? Or I will I stare at a blank page until I switch to mindless games?! I don't know but I am hoping that my mind will start working again, and it will become filled with journalling and ideas. I hope this also bumps me out of my photo rut so I have a heap of new pics to inspire me.
So here's to a new year of scrapping. Let's see how I go!

And to anyone who made it through this post, I recommend going through your own gallery from 2010. See what you could do this year to improve it. Whether it be to journal more, ct less, make it more meaningful, work on a technique, change up your style etc etc. I'm sure you will gain something from it, even if it's just the smiles from the memories as you look through.

Tupperware Labels!

So my nan bought some tupperware without lids (she works in a second hand store) and gave them to my mum, who ordered lids and then gave the whole lot to me! woot!
I now have tupperware!
So I thought I' d be all domestic and stuff and make little labels so DH doesn't have to ask me what's in everything! lol
I couldn't be bothered cutting out circlar tops to match the containers...square is so much easier.
And despite thinking that longer ones would be better for the taller containers, I really couldn't be bothered!
But I'm so happy with how they turned out!

In case anybody is wondering, I just printed them on photo paper, stuck them onto contact (the clear book covering stuff), and also added some double sided tape in the middle as my 'contact' is a cheap brand and is not very sticky.

Digi...is it real scrapbooking?

Disclaimer: This is my opinion only...for anybody out there that may think that digital scrapbooking is not 'real' scrapbooking.

Okay so apparently there are people out there who do not consider digi to be real scrapbooking. And I feel that I really must sort this out in my own head once and for all...for if digi is not real, then what on Earth have I been doing with my time over the last 2 years?

Okay so the arguments for digi not being real...you can't touch it. Well if I print it, then I can touch it. But I don't touch my old paper LOs either for fear of them being torn and tattered.
...it doesn't look real. If it's done well it can look very real. And if it's not done so well then it is because the scrapper is still learning and so that still counts.
...you don't do anything...just add a photo. Well you can just add a photo to a quick page and be done, but in general digi Los take a lot of time and effort. I spend more time on digi pages than I used to on paper pages sometimes.
...it's too easy, you don't need to think about it. Not true. Just as you can make a simple paper page or use a really fancy technique or two, the same applies to digi. There are basic techniques, but there are also many much harder, time consuming techniques and there is always something new to learn.
...it's sitting on a computer so it's not real. Okay so how about your thousands of digital photos? Go in to your photo folder and delete them. They are not real so it shouldn't make any difference. Or maybe they are real...just as real as your old film photos...they are just in a DIFFERENT FORMAT.
And isn't that the only real difference between digital and paper scrapbooking A different format? I am still getting photos, memories and art on a page, it's just in a different format to your page. Same thing, just different. Still real.
And if I ever get organised enough to print some, I will come and show you.
Right now I can't...not because it's not real...just because I'm lazy.

Yay I got on the GSO Blog today with my Brat page using the new kit Daylicious by Kasia Designs and Kitty Designs!!

And this page is for the 'Ography' challenge at Deviant Scraps. I chose to make a biography of my fabulos friend Patty Anne and was even inspired to write a poem! Love ya PA!!

Oh lovely PA, with the gift of the gab,
She was dragged round the world doing gigs, taking jabs.
With a broken down camera and no laptop for fear
Of it being lost, she still seemed to appear
so happy and cheerful all times of the day,
braving floods, rain and crowds seeming cheeky and gay.
Yet we in the know, see the truth, for inside
The lovely PA was quite sad and would hide
The shocking withdrawals she was battling within
For the one thing she wanted, her one lustful sin,
Was to scrap for all hours of the day and the night
Yet her laptop was home, she was nowhere in sight,
of her digital papers and happy scrap space.
So she flew round the world with a smile on her face.

Scrapping Stuff!

This one was made very late at night when I really should have been sleeping! lol

And this one was inspired by digi dare #176. the dare was to scrap about the different parts of your life. Mine is more about being trapped as a mother and being pulled in all different directions. But really it's not so bad in my life! lol

My Fly Experiment

Okay so I started this last week and was documenting it at TLP...but I've decided it's a bit gross so anyone who is interested can follow it here instead!

I will keep all of the updates in this post so it is all together...and then just bump my blog each time I update...which should be every 2 or 3 days.

Monday 26th April 2010
9.30am: DH cooks bacon for a sandwich and leaves the mess for me.12pm: I clean up his mess and realise that he left some bacon in the pan.
Bacon has a pile of fly eggs on it.2pm: (after coming back from a walk) Collect bacon and fly eggs into a container for further observation.9pm: Take photo and decide to gross out TLP.

Tuesday 27th April

8am: Baby maggots are crawling around the container. approximately 1mm long

10.30pm: More maggots but still tiny. I'm starting to smell a smell.

Thursday 29th April

9am: I really didn't want to open the container today so here's a pic from the bottom. There are dozens of maggots above the bacon as well. They are between 1 and 2mm I guess and squirming constantly. It is really gross to watch their bodies rippling. hahaha!
Sat 1st may

9.30am: I went out to check the babies this morning and saw ants crawling all over the container and ants inside. I immediately assumed all the maggots would have been eaten, but after closer inspection I noticed that all the ants inside the container were dead. I have no idea why every single ant is dead. But the maggots are happy and getting all big and squirmy.

Thursday 6th May: So quite a few days back, I noticed that maggots were escaping from my little container. I had cut tiny slits with a knife for air but they were somehow getting through them. So the container got moved to a much bigger, air-tight container. I figured they should be fine if I opened it up every day or so.
And so for a couple of days they were fine but nothing much changed. And then I forgot about them!So I went to check them now and couldn't see any maggots! On closer inspection there were a few shrivelled up, dead ones on the lid...but not many. I finally noticed that the majority of my babies were huddled up together, hanging on for dear life under the original container. They seem to have shrunk slightly but are alive.
So I gave them some air and closed them up again. Let's hope I don't forget them again!BTW...sorry for the terrible pic. I couldn't get my hand to stay still and also this is through both layers of plastic.

Oh and of course you will be wanting to see the dead maggots. I mean duh..who wouldn't? Right? So here are 2 dead ones and one living. Enjoy.

Happy 2nd Birthday to my dearest Kalan for yesterday!!
We had a great day...went to McDonalds for lunch and the kids played on the playground for soooooo long. Oh including the girls as they had a day off school.
Then Grandma and Nanna came around in the evening for cake...which just happens to be my fist cake wreck! Mind you I wasn't trying to make it fabulous or anything, but I did try to spell out his name on top with mini marshmallows. Not good.Kalan LOVED all his presents! He got this cool new little bike thing to ride, a pooh bear to cuddle, a car garage, a talking roary, lightning mcqueen socks and a hotwheels car. Nanna gave him a new Lightning McQueen doona cover (plus mattress protector) for his new big boy bed, and Grandma provided the doona! Also from Grandma came a little remote control bart Simpson car. OMG he loves it!! It only goes back and forth so it is really easy to control and it is so funny watching him play with it. He makes it zoom forward then runs after it giggling his head off!!
Anyway his real party is on Saturday so I'm sure he will be very spoiled then too. And just quickly, Kalan threw his dummies in the bin and moved into his big bed this week! Woohoo!

I can just imagine...Hi all!! Me again! Well this week I scrapped. And then I scrapped again. Then I slept as my scrapping was suffering. Scrapped a bit more and now onto another week! Woohoo!!

Anyway...no I am not making a newsletter. In fact I am fairly sure that nobody will even read this post let alone sign up for my newsletter so I'm not going to bother at this pont in time!

So what was the point of this post?? Don't know. I've just realised that so many blogs I read have newsletters and it seems that I suck at signing up for them. And then I miss out on news and freebies and feel like a fool.

bad blogger

yep that's me. I have all these grand intentions of blogging more often and including family stuff but then I open it up, have a quick look and so can't be bothered. So why am I writing now? Finally?? Don't know. Just thought I would! I'm a bit bored!Anyway....I have a middle ear infection which is annoying me. It's not particularly painful as long as I remember to take my ibuprofen but it's really uncomfortable. I have almost completely lost my hearing in that ear and it feels like my ear is filled with water. enough whinging.Alysha and Taylah are going to Ray's house for a sleepover shortly and Mathew should be home from golf soon. Not sure if we will do something with the boys yet. Still need to do some food shopping today too. Then tomorrow morning we are going to botannical mini golf for Mathew's golf club family day. It's so beautiful there and I will hopefully get some good pics of the kids.
Now scrapping. Hmmmm....I have been a scrapping a lot. Too much I guess and I should probably get a life. But I enjoy it so for now it's still working! I'll post some of my latest pages and hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! TTFN :)

Once upon a time there was a very happy couple. They had not a fairy-tale life, one of their four children being too soon diagnosed with a fatal, progressive disease SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), confining her to a wheelchair at age 2 and to constant care (exercise, lifting, positioning in sleep, even sitting, as she is like a rag-doll, limp but lively and bright). It was hard but they had each other to share their fears and hopes, the work and care, the constant love they had for each other. And then the Fate struck again - her innocent husband was killed in a traffic accident. She stayed alone to face and fight her Destiny ...

We, her virtual friends, decided to help her, if not by offering our distant hands, then at least by offering our art to collect some money to patch the most urgent needs of her family, especially the expensive sitting and moving aids for her lovely Klara.

The death toll in Haiti has now passed 200000 and I urge you to make a donation if you possibly can. Okay enough silliness.
I had a great day today and a great day yesterday! Mathew and I stayed at the Vines resort overnight (he won it in a golf comp last year) and went out to dinner at a German restaurant and then I passed out at 6pm! lol Then this morning we had blueberries for breakfast, a coffee and muffin at a cafe, played supergolf and then lunch at Oscars restaurant.
Then home and had a lazy afternoon. Steven helped me make myself a cake while Mathew went to the driving range. Unfortunately the car burst a hose while he was out so he came home and fixed that rather than making dinner! Mum and Dave came around with my pressie ...a vacuum cleaner as mine died...and brought a huge watermelon with them so we had watermelon, then I cooked the kids some dinner and then chocolate rasberry cake! Then kids to bed, a chicken pie for dinner and more cake! lol And now to scrap! Happy Birthday me!!

Also today... ADSR5 starts!! I have to scrap a page about my partner mouse/Donna! She has already sent me a photo and blurb and now off to her gallery to scraplift one of her pages! I might do this tonight so I can't forget about it! lol

Anyhoo...I just made my first ever ATC for the Veni, Vidi challenge at the Altered Hearts forum at Scrap Artist! Basically make an ATC using the prompt "Veni, Vidi..."

So after making my rainbow glitter and getting a fabulous comment from Patty Anne -

I've been a busy little scrapper lately so thought I would show off a few of my LOs!
Here is my favourite new LO...and thank you to for the DST GSO! This one is for the Log Your Memory Week 4 challenge. I love these challenges...they are so inspiring and are producing my best pages! And they are things I would never think to scrap on my own!

Then this one is about Kalan and our NEW BUNNIES! woohoo we got 2 gorgeous bunnies!! So cute but they are still a little scared. Snowy is okay with me and will let me pet her and pick her up (though she isn't keen) but Pepper is scared stiff of me. Probably because I have to catch her to put her in the hutch or give her to the kids! Hopefully she gets better. This is for the template challenge at The Lily-Pad.

And this one was for the Formula challenge at The Lily-Pad. Our grumpy Alysha who was not impressed with anything Santa gave her this year!

And one more... Steven on Christmas morning!

Every day I come here and think "I really need to update my blog today"... and then I close blogger!
So today I am going to stop procrastinating and just do it! Shame I don't feel that way about cleaning my house yet! lol

Okey dokey...so what has been going on...

well we went camping at Australind with Mathew's family and had a great time! I wasn't expecting to, but after the heat disappeared and I got used to the dirt it was actually really good! We did heaps of stuff as a family which was really nice.

I am still sick. I have been sick now for about 4 weeks I think and I am so over it. First the cough, then colds and now my face is just so sore...I think it's just too much snot in my sinuses! lol So gross!

The kids are still on holidays until the end of January. In a week or so I need to start thinking about getting new school supplies and uniforms and stuff packed. Aaarrrgghhh.

And I've been scrapping of course. I've joined a few more CT teams...secrets so far...so that's keeping me busy. I don't know why I'm joining more teams though as I have so much bought stuff that I haven't had time to use yet! lol
But joining teams allows me to meet new friends and get to know other scrappers better and I think that's what I like most about it!

Oh and of course 2010 is here so my Logbook is now in use!! I am trying to journal a little each day to jog my memory later. I am also attempting to take photos every day this year. I am not officially doing a P365 but I am participating in the support group at Log Your Memory to motivate me to take more photos this year. There were months last year where I didn't take any photos so that will NOT happen again this year.

I've also started going for short walks with the kids each morning before it gets too hot. So far I've only managed 2 out of 3 days as I felt too sick yesterday...but it's a start.

I will leave off with some of my Los for this year. Have a good one! :)

It's Boxing Day here and we are almost all packed for our camping trip tomorrow. We are gone for a week of relaxing with Mathew's family so hopefully it will be good.

December Daily...Day 22!

Merry Christmas!!
We just had an early Christmas with my family as we won't all be able to catch up again for a while. Mum brought round chinese and the kids opened heaps of presents!
And I got a 1TB EHD! Woohoo!! Thanks Mum and Dave!!

Also the kids and I made reindeer cookies today and attempted melted snowman cookies...but unfortunately I messed up the recipe and had no time (or eggs) to try again. And Santa sent each of the kids a video by email today! They all loved them but especially the boys. Steven was so happy he didn't know what to do with himself and kept playing with his cars rather than watching it! Kalan absolutely loved it! And after he'd been off playing for a while afterwards he came back and 'asked' to watch it again!

Yesterday the kids wrote their letters to Santa but we are yet to send them. Tomorrow we will hopefully get Santa photos so maybe the kids can just give him their letters. I already have replies printed off ready to 'send' to them!

Oh and last night Ruth came around to watch the kids while Mathew stayed back at work so i could finish the Christmas shopping. So now I'm all done and need to get wrapping!

OMG Christmas is coming up fast now!!

December Daily...Day 20!

ah bugger. Okay December Daily minus a week while sick.
I'm still sick and really can't be bothered writing this but I can't give up completely!
So to recap the last week, I've been sick, Alysha has been sick, Taylah, Steven and Mathew have had a bit of this cold too and now Kalan has the cough at night so he keeps waking all night long.
Alysha and Taylah had their class Christmas parties on Tuesday and their last day of school for the year on Thursday.
They made beautiful quilled presents for their teachers, and I made Christmas tree cake balls.
We went swimming yesterday and then off to Carols by Candlelight with a picnic only to discover that I got the day wrong! oops!
We still have so much Christmas stuff to get ready an we only started thinking about our camping trip on the 27th last night. So much to do.
Oh and I can't find my card reader for the camera so I can't upload any of the pics that I should have taken during the week! I hope I find it soon :(

Let's hope I get back here tomorrow!

December Daily...Day 13!

Went to my brothers and SIL2B's house today for her 'High Tea'! OMG I cannot believe how much stuff she baked! It was absolutely ridiculous that one person could spend so much time baking so much stuff!
But it was fabulous! I wasn't going to go as I couldn't get a babysitter but my brother offered to look after them there so that was good. He made my other brother come and help him too...he wasn't very impressed!
And despite DS2 weeing on their beautiful wood floor, and DD2 spilling lemonade on the same floor, and DS1 having a major bowel problem on the playground (he was so upset and embarrassed but couldn't help it) it was all good! lol
Oh and then I was waiting for DH to call me to pick him up from his work weekend, but he thought I was just going to be there at 5.30...so at 5.30 I called to find out what's going on....oops.
Anyway now they are all in bed and I want to scrap but I might head to bed too. So tired.

December Daily...Day 12!

oops I've been bad! I missed yesterdays post...though I was sick...plus I haven't taken a single photo in about 3 days...plus we haven't done much Christmassy stuff.

In my defense I really haven't been feeling the best. But it's still not good enough.
I will try harder.

So today we put the advent calendars back on the wall and stuck the cotton balls back on that Kalan pulled off. I think that was it. Kalan was super cute this morning though, copying me sticking my tongue out! And I taught him his toes this morning, but so many times he still kept pointing to his nose! It took quite a while for him to work out that I was saying something different! I also did his fingers just after and he picked that one up easily. He still refuses to talk though but I'm not going to start worrying yet. I know he can say some words...he just doesn't want to!

Oh and he threw my mobile phone in the bath today! Luckily once I'd pulled it apart and dried it, it still worked! Was not happy. Especially as the doors and gates were meant to be closed so he couldn't get in the bathroom. Why can't kids keep doors/gates closed??

Oh and yesterday Alysha and Taylah wrote Christmas cards to their school friends. The first year I haven't had to help!! Woohoo!
Mathew is at Rottnest Island at the moment for his work Christmas 'weekend' ...lucky him. So please pray for my kids...they are driving me insane!

December Daily...Day 10!

We just got back from Mum's place a little while ago as it is Dave's birthday tomorrow and we had a barbecue. Let's just say there were a few little dramas (usually rare in my family) so it was an interesting night!
Alysha and Taylah wrote out Christmas cards for their friends today, I made cake balls for Taylah's Christmas party next Tuesday, and we saw Christmas lights on the way home from Mum's tonight.
Mathew went shopping after work for some stuff for his Rottnest trip this weekend and tomorrow I have to go and get his snacks and sea sickness tablets!
Anyway I'm off to bed. See you tomorrow :)

Just a quick one tonight as I am unbelievably tired!
Alysha and Taylah had their school Christmas Concert and they had so much fun!
Alysha sang Jingle Bells and Taylah sang 6 White Boomers.
Then we saw some lights on the way home.

December Daily...Day 8!

Well it's the end of another day and I am exhausted. I guess I shouldn't have stayed up late scrapping last night!
Well today I had good intentions of getting my Christmas present shopping started, but despite leaving the boys with Mum and racing off to MYER ...I only ended up buying 3 presents all day! MYER had run out of the basketball hoop I wanted and it was just too busy and I had to pick Mischka up from the doggy groomers and Mum had to go out..so anyway it just didn't happen today.
I got a photo of Kalan with chocolate all over him but no Christmas photos...he looked very cute though!
I just made a Christmas card too! It started as a LO but I decided to turn it into a card when I was nearly finished. Love Lily's kits! And I used MK-Designs new kit too.
Tomorrow evening the girls have their Christmas concert so that should be good!
Oh and last night at bedtime Steven told us he wanted a hippopotamus for Christmas (we've been playing the song!) so I asked him where we are going to keep it. And he replies..."in a big jar". When i informed him that hippos are rather big he told me it could sleep on the spare bed instead! He was so upset when I said he couldn't have one! lol

Ooooeeee!! I'm not doing so well with this December Daily thing!!
Oh well...here we go...
Today we finally put up the Christmas tree!! Woohoo!
I put some music on and turned the TV off and everyone had a great time!
Steven was so cute as it was his first time that he could really help to decorate and the concentration on his face as he carefully opened each bauble's string was so gorgeous!
Kalan really didn't know what was going on but helped anyway!
Alysha and Taylah were both in their element! throwing tinsel at the tree, dancing around the room and basically achieving very little!
I took some 'Christmas hat' photos which I seem to do every year..but Kalan wouldn't cooperate so maybe tomorrow for him.
And then I got some video of the 3 older kids singing Jingle Bells! It was very 'cute'. lol

Now to recap yesterday ...I did absolutely nothing all day! Alysha and Taylah were with Grandma till around 5 but still got their Christmas fix because Grandma took them shopping to buy the rest of us presents! Yay for Grandma!
That's about it. I didn't do anything Christmassy yesterday, didn't take any photos...but did blog a little so I'm not going to get too upset at myself!
Anyway it is getting very late here and I finished another page so I'm off to bed. Have a great day/night. :)

December Daily...Day 6!

oops I'm getting behind! But I couldn't get back on here last night as we were at a party so I forgive myself. Still have photos to upload for 4 days though! lol

so yesterday.....um....we went to the pools and Kalan impressed me! At 19 months he can't talk at all, but he managed to 'tell' me that he needed to do wees and we went out, put his nappy on and when he finished we put his bathers back on and got back in the pool. I think it's time to start toilet training!
Then we went to Andy's 30th last night and the girls stayed with Grandma and are not back yet. The boys both woke at 6 and I somehow managed to get them back to sleep and then Steven woke at 9 and Kalan at 10! OMG! A sleep in till 9...that hasn't happened for years!
Shame Mathew had to go to golf at 5am! lol
So now we are vegging. Steven has just started watching Cars and Kalan is playing and I am doing absolutely nothing. :)

December Daily...Day 5!

Whoops...I never did get back here last night. I was too busy scrapping!
So to catch up:
the kids finished their angels and we put up the advent calendars (finally) and stuck the cotton balls on and Kalan has pulled them all off a few times already so I need to put them up higher and Steven was so proud of himself for singing Jingle Bells while in the toilet! I think that's the extent of our Christmassy stuff yesterday...and on to day 5...

I feel like Scrooge today. May be due to the lack of sleep due to the late night due to the scrapping obsession I have!
So although I was planning to put the tree up today, it's not going to happen now. For one thing it's too hot and I'm too tired and DH has gone to golf and then we are going to the pools and then we are going to Andy's 30th birthday party. So the tree can wait. Also putting up the tree means I have to vacuum first...and I don't like to vacuum.
I did sort out one of the cupboards under the TV this morning though and found my Spirit of Christmas CD that has been lost forever! Love this CD so it's going in the car today! :)
I guess I better find a Christmas activity for the kids to do seeing how we aren't doing the tree now.
